Scalby Beck is the home to a wide diversity of activities and is a favourite beauty spot for holidaymakers to visit. Today Scalby beck (or the sea cut as it is also known) is fed by many small streams and becks. It drains  water away from the hills on the western side of Scalby and Newby. It runs from just beyond Mowthorpe farm to its estuary at Scalby Mills.
